Crypto Creator Earns $93,780 in Just 3 Weeks Through Pump.fun's Revenue Sharing
In a remarkable feat, a token creator on the Solana launchpad Pump.fun has earned a staggering $93,780 in just three weeks, thanks to the platform's newly introduced creator revenue sharing feature. The wallet, dubbed w3rE, was responsible for creating the Moonpig meme coin, which reached a remarkable $125 million market cap last month.
Pump.fun's creator revenue sharing feature, launched last month, splits 50% of the revenue generated per token with the deployer. Over the three weeks since its implementation, a whopping $2.9 million has been handed out to coin creators, according to Dune data.
The biggest earner from this scheme was the w3rE wallet, which deployed the MOONPIG meme coin. Crypto whale James Wynn heavily promoted the token amid his failed and highly publicized $100 million Bitcoin bet on Hyperliquid. Despite MOONPIG's meteoric rise to a $125 million market cap in May, it has since fallen 71% to $35.8 million.
Throughout the token's price fluctuations, wallet w3rE continued to earn creator fees, with 0.05% of the over $19.1 million in daily trading volume going back to the deployer. This has resulted in an estimated $9,566 in earnings for the creator.
Top Earning Creators on Pump.fun
- w3rE: 610.2 SOL (creator of MOONPIG)
- G9FyS: 476.1 SOL (creator of numerous low-cap tokens)
While w3rE has only created two other tokens with little success, the second highest earner, G9FyS, has deployed over 320 coins, none of which have a market cap exceeding $7,000. This includes numerous tokens with the same name, ticker, and image, such as Solana Doge, Yeezy Coin, and Official Cuban.
Despite the seemingly low effort put into creating these tokens, G9FyS has still managed to earn $73,300 through creator rewards. The top 25 coin creators on Pump.fun have all taken home more than $12,900 each, with a mix of highly successful tokens and creators of numerous low-cap projects.
Meme Coin Community Protest Funded by Creator Revenue Sharing
One notable example of how creator revenue sharing has been used is the protest organized by the NEET meme coin community on Wall Street. The protest, which saw attendees chanting "nine to five, we won't comply" and waving signs with slogans like "rage against the wage," was in part funded by Pump.fun's creator revenue sharing, according to a pseudonymous community member Primed.
The protest helped rally the NEET token 140% to a market cap of $14.6 million, although it remained down 39% from its all-time high. Pump.fun co-founder Alon Cohen hopes this is the first of many creative ways that meme coin communities use creator revenue to push their tokens forward.
"We're still early in our journey of improving the long-term incentives between creators and traders," Cohen added, "so expect more changes to come!"
