Tether Increasing US Dollar Hegemony, CEO Says
Tether CEO Ardoino: USDT Strengthens US Dollar Hegemony
During a recent CNBC interview, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino positioned USDT as a critical tool for preserving the US dollar's global dominance. He outlined three major contributions from Tether: promoting financial inclusion, driving US dollar adoption, and serving as a stabilizing force in digital finance.
"We are the stronghold for the US dollar hegemony," Ardoino stated, noting that Tether holds more US Treasuries than entire nations like Germany, Spain, and Australia.
With a market capitalization of $152 billion according to CoinGecko, USDT remains the dominant stablecoin. Ardoino emphasized Tether's commitment to transparency through quarterly attestations performed by BDO, the world's fifth-largest accounting firm.
While acknowledging that "Big Four" audit firms (PwC, Deloitte, EY, and KPMG) remain cautious about crypto engagements, Ardoino confirmed ongoing discussions with these industry leaders. Securing a Big Four auditor remains a strategic priority for Tether.
The CEO suggested that traditional financial institutions need time to adapt to the evolving digital asset landscape. Despite these challenges, Tether continues to focus on enhancing transparency and maintaining its leadership position in the cryptocurrency market.
