Solana co-founder doxxed on hacked rap group Migos’ Instagram account
Hackers Compromise Migos' Instagram, Leak Solana Co-Founder's Personal Details
In a startling turn of events, the personal information of Solana co-founder Raj Gokal was leaked through a series of Instagram posts on the account of U.S. hip-hop group Migos, which was apparently compromised by hackers.
On May 27th, the Migos' Instagram account, with over 13 million followers, was reportedly breached, allowing the perpetrators to access and share Gokal's sensitive details, including his driver's license and passport, both unredacted. Additionally, a woman claimed to be Gokal's wife was also featured, holding her own driver's license.
The hackers went a step further, sharing Gokal's personal contact information, including his phone number, and urged the audience to "spam" the Solana co-founder, effectively doxxing him. A caption on one of the posts suggested that Gokal was initially blackmailed, with the hacker demanding a ransom of 40 Bitcoin, worth approximately $4.3 million at current prices.
This incident comes just a week after Gokal had warned his followers on X (formerly known as Twitter) about attempts to hack into his email and social media accounts, urging them to be vigilant and not trust any suspicious posts on his platforms.
Neither the official Solana account nor Raj Gokal's X account have made a public response to the recent incident at the time of writing. However, the compromising posts have since been removed from the Migos' Instagram page.
This breach is the latest in a series of crypto-related account hacks, where attackers have targeted various accounts to promote fake cryptocurrencies or spread misinformation in the web3 space. Recent examples include the hacking of meme coin launchpad Pump.fun and crypto media platform Watcher Guru's X accounts.
