Ripple CTO Questions $237 Million XRP Purchase, Shiba Inu Team Issues Major Shibarium Update, 814,661% Profit Triggers Epic Ethereum Whale Awakening: Crypto News Digest by U.Today
Massive XRP Transfer Raises Eyebrows in Crypto Community
A significant XRP transaction reported by Whale Alert on Wednesday, May 21, has sparked discussions within the crypto community. According to the transfer data, nearly 237 million XRP worth $567 million were moved from the Kraken crypto exchange to an unknown wallet. Despite the size of the transaction, it had minimal impact on XRP's price, leading some community members to suspect "fundamental issues" with the XRP market. Ripple CTO David Schwartz, however, claimed that the transaction was "almost certainly" a withdrawal from the exchange rather than a new purchase. At the time of writing, XRP is trading at $2.31, up 1.12% over the past 24 hours.
Shibarium Update Aims to Enhance Decentralization
In a recent post on X, the Shiba Inu-themed account @Shibizens, which focuses on Shibarium-related news, shared that the SHIB team is announcing an important Shibarium update to improve its decentralization. The upcoming change will implement rate limits on public Remote Procedure Call (RPC) endpoints, not to restrict access but to encourage developers and users to run their own nodes. This move is expected to enhance privacy, resistance to censorship, and network resilience, making the Shibarium network harder to control or shut down. While casual users may experience minimal impact, dApps and high-volume users are strongly recommended to set up their own dedicated nodes for optimal performance.
Decade-Old Ethereum Wallet Awakens, Transfers $75,970
According to Whale Alert, an old Ethereum wallet created during the pre-mine phase awakened for the first time since 2015. The wallet, "0x10df68," received 2,153 ETH, worth around $667 at the time, almost a decade ago. Today, this amount is valued at over $5.43 million. On Saturday, May 24, the wallet made its first transaction in nearly 10 years, transferring 30 ETH, worth approximately $75,970, to another wallet, "0x967e37," which then quickly began routing funds through Tornado Cash. The original wallet still holds over 2,100 ETH, while the second wallet now contains only about 2.78 ETH. The immediate use of Tornado Cash has led to speculation that the move may be linked to early Ethereum insiders or even Vitalik Buterin, given his known support for privacy tools, but there is no definitive proof.
