Crypto Billionaire Bullish on Bitcoin and Ethereum Prices
Bitcoin billionaire and former BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes predicts Bitcoin's price will more than double in the next six months, reaching $250,000. Hayes shared his outlook at the Bitcoin 2025 conference in Las Vegas, pointing to potential shifts in U.S. fiscal policy as a key driver.
Hayes believes the Trump administration's tariff-focused approach will transition to other economic strategies ahead of the midterm elections. He suggests the president may introduce policies to boost public sentiment and support Republican candidates at the polls.
Among the potential changes Hayes highlighted are reforms to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. If these government-backed mortgage giants are permitted to raise capital publicly again, it could lower mortgage costs and stimulate the housing market.
Hayes also sees promise in discussions about exempting U.S. Treasuries from supplemental leverage ratio (SLR) requirements. This move could enable banks to leverage treasury bond purchases more aggressively, potentially benefiting global markets.
The crypto entrepreneur is equally optimistic about Ethereum, forecasting it could hit $5,000 by year-end - nearly doubling its current value. Hayes views Ethereum as the "most hated layer-1" blockchain, a position he believes makes it attractive during market recoveries.
These predictions emerge as U.S. lawmakers consider cryptocurrency regulations, including stablecoin oversight and clearer classification frameworks for digital assets.
