Metaplanet Unveils Ambitious Bitcoin Accumulation Strategy
Metaplanet, a Japanese company, has announced an aggressive acceleration of its Bitcoin strategy over the next two years. Having transformed into a Bitcoin treasury firm, the company aims to accumulate approximately 110,000 BTC by the end of 2027. This would bring their total holdings to 210,000 Bitcoins – representing 1% of Bitcoin's total 21 million coin supply.
Following a similar path to Michael Saylor's Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), Metaplanet has been actively building its Bitcoin reserves. The company currently holds 580,955 BTC valued at over $61 billion. Their most recent purchase occurred on Monday, with the acquisition of 705 Bitcoins for approximately $75.1 million.
Dubbed the "555 million plan" in their recent disclosure document shared on X, this ambitious target comes alongside Metaplanet's announcement to issue 555 million MS warrants. The company plans to raise 770.9 billion yen (including prepayment of stock acquisition rights), with all proceeds dedicated to Bitcoin accumulation.
According to their statement, this marks "the largest stock acquisition right issuance in Japanese capital market history, and the first MS warrant in Japan with an exercise price above market value."
