BlackRock Shifts Gears, Deposits $429 Million in Bitcoin to Coinbase Prime
Asset management giant BlackRock has made a surprising move by depositing 4,113 BTC (worth approximately $429 million) into Coinbase Prime. This marks BlackRock's first major sell-off in over a month, breaking its consistent buying pattern observed in May. The structured nature of the transfers—most in exact chunks of 300 BTC—suggests a deliberate strategic decision rather than routine activity.
Coinbase Prime is typically used by institutions for selling or rebalancing, not just fund transfers. This aligns with timing, as BlackRock's IBIT saw a $430 million outflow on May 30. Following these moves, Bitcoin's price has dipped from over $112,000 to around $104,000 in recent days.
Ripple Celebrates 13th Anniversary with XRP Movements
Whale Alert reported that on June 1, 330 million XRP tokens were transferred from an unknown wallet to Ripple. Shortly after, 670 million XRP were locked in escrow—a routine monthly occurrence. These tokens come from Ripple's own holdings, with an automatic release of one billion XRP expected later this week.
In separate transactions, Ripple also moved 130 million XRP to unknown wallets. These activities coincided with XRP's 13th anniversary—June 2, 2012, marks when Ripple cofounder Arthur Britto submitted the code creating 100 billion XRP tokens. Currently ranked fourth by market cap ($131 billion), XRP has solidified its top-10 position following Ripple's legal victory over the SEC.
MicroStrategy Adds Another 705 BTC to Its Holdings
Michael Saylor announced via X that MicroStrategy acquired an additional 705 BTC (worth $75.1 million), bringing its total holdings to 580,955 Bitcoins—valued at over $60 billion today. The company's cumulative investment stands at $40.68 billion, averaging $70,023 per Bitcoin.
MicroStrategy maintains its near-weekly Bitcoin purchases, with Saylor teasing the latest buy on social media. On June 1, he posted "orange is my preferred color" alongside a chart highlighting the company's BTC acquisitions in orange dots. According to Saylor, MicroStrategy has achieved a 16.9% Bitcoin yield year-to-date in 2025.
