Yuga Labs Refocuses on Bored Ape Yacht Club and Otherside Metaverse
Yuga Labs, the company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Otherside metaverse, is doubling down on its core projects. The crypto startup recently announced the sale of its Moonbirds NFT project to Orange Cap Games, a gaming startup specializing in digital and physical trading card games.
Greg "Garga" Solano, Yuga Labs co-founder and CEO, commended the Orange Cap Games team, calling them "among the smartest, most detail-oriented builders in consumer crypto." He expressed optimism about Moonbirds' future under its new ownership.
While financial terms remain undisclosed, this move signals Yuga Labs' renewed commitment to BAYC, Otherside, and related initiatives. The decision follows the company's earlier separation from the CryptoPunks and Meebits IP it acquired from Larva Labs in 2022.
In related news, the newly formed Infinite Node Foundation has acquired the CryptoPunks IP from Yuga Labs. The nonprofit endowment will oversee the influential Ethereum NFT collection as Yuga Labs returns to its "apeish roots."
These strategic shifts highlight Yuga Labs' focus on streamlining operations and strengthening its flagship projects in an evolving crypto market. The company continues to demonstrate its ability to make decisive moves in this dynamic industry.
